Conversion to static website
Over time my website has grown tremendously with the number of pages related to intrusion reports increasing every day. With a website based on Wordpress that retrieved large amounts of data from a MySQL database, its performance was steadily eroding as the number of pages increased. To solve this performance issue I decided to investigate staic website generators, applications that take source web files and generate pre-built static web pages.
No Wonder Yahoo Lost 500 Million User Passwords
Douce bag is the best compliment I can pay to Yahoo and their user password design. With the recent scare of Yahoo giving away their user passwords to a group of hackers (yes, if hackers got them then it was because Yahoo gave them away) I decided to change my Yahoo password. Thus I entered a world of hurt, a world of douce-bag software design and a world of wtf all at the same time.
Hetzner Online GmbH: A Hackers Haven
35372 attacks from one ISP - Hetzner Online GmbH I have noticed one specific German ISP, Hetzner Online GmbH, appears to be a haven for automated hacker attacks. SSH intrusion attempts from Hetzner IP addresses: 35372 Although the hackers using the Hetzner servers are not very smart since they never realize that their attempts completely fail, they are, nonetheless, a nuisance.
Did God enjoy torturing Egyptians?
In the G’HIM [Goat Herder Instruction Manual] Old Testament section there is a popular tale about slavery, adoption, family politics, plagues, torment and torture followed up by a bronze-age era chase scene. The sequel was not so good as it mainly dictated barbaric rules on women’s periods, birth rituals and ways to imprison people in your basement if you thought they had leprosy (or at least a bad case of acne). To set the ball in motion for this epic action flick the hero is told to go back to his adopted family and perform a number of magic tricks and eventually bring about plagues, pestilence and even massive family trauma by slaughtering horrid numbers of [innocent] children.
You get the government you deserve
If you don’t vote then you get the government you deserve. Quote: We are clearly called, in the Bible, to adhere to our civil authorities, but that conflicts with also a requirement to adhere to God’s rules. When those two come in conflict, God’s rules always win. In essence, if we are ever ordered by a government authority to personally violate and sin, violate God’s law and sin, if we’re ordered to stop preaching the gospel, if we’re ordered to perform a same-sex marriage as someone presiding over it, we are called to ignore that. We cannot abide by that because government is compelling us to sin. - Marco Rubio Oh really?
Weakening encryption is horse shyte and would have absolutely no effect
Uninformed politicians are starting to take up the cause to demand vendors weaken encryption inside their products. The presumed goal for this is to introduce a backdoor into email and messaging that allow authorities to spy on anyones secure messages. They claim this is needed because they don’t know you are a terrorist yet until they can read ALL your messages. Well this is horse shyte. Pure and simple.
Hat’s off to engineers at my Alma Mater for coming up with an interesting application of drone technology. Queen’s University’s Roel Vertegaal says that self-levitating displays [bitdrones] are a breakthrough in programmable matter, allowing physical interactions with mid-air virtual objects.
What would you do if 14 and constipated?
As anyone with a functioning brain knows, Homeopathy is full of shit. Well not literally, it is actually full of water and nothing else, but it might as well be full of shit for all the good it does. Debunked every time it is considered (not just most - but every time) it is mostly a tax on the uninformed and a danger for those looking for honest help in tackling an ailment. Even worse though is when a respected pharmacy brand stands up and puts its label on a homeopathic product implying to the uninformed that there is some medicinal purpose to the rubbish and not just a jar full of distilled water.
It's the End of the World As We Know It.....
Today is a bright and sunny Sept 18, but something is distinctly amiss. In a flash of revelation I know what’s missing. It is those weekly nutcase predictions about the end of the world! We used to laugh at those wearing the plaquards shouting that the end is nigh, but no more. Now we give them reality shows, search for bigfoot and front page space in our media. But when they go quiet for a few days and the media is not hyping some death due to asteroid story it starts to feel like something is missing.
